Detroit Riverfront Conservancy: It starts here – one step at a time.
The non-profit Detroit RiverFront Conservancy was formed in 2003 with the mission of bringing public access to Detroit’s Riverfront and serving as a catalyst for economic development in the city. The ultimate vision is to develop five and a half miles of riverfront from the Ambassador Bridge to just east of the MacArthur (Belle Isle) Bridge.
Incentive Plan to Help 3 Neighborhoods
One goal of the University of Detroit Mercy Home Ownership Plan is to help revitalize the Livernois corridor. University president, Antoine Garibaldi explained, “What we provide is a $5000 forgivable loan which individuals can use toward a down payment, closing costs or some other related expenses.” The homeowner has to work with the University for five years, and then the entire loan is forgiven.
