Cobo Center is about to get a major renovation that will probably place the facility in the top tier of convention centers in the world. The amount of glass being added to the space is going to make it seem like a brand new facility. With recent economic crisis and the rise of smaller conventions, the convention center authority that manages Cobo realized that size does not matter and decided to focus more on renovation the footprint instead of expansion. This project can have a major impact on downtown, Detroit and the region.
